To address gun violence in our communities I’m sponsoring Senate Bill 676, which would establish security grants for religious and community organizations.

Nonprofits that support groups historically targeted by hate crimes, including spaces serving not only the Jewish community but also LGBTQ, Muslim and black people as well, would all be eligible.

To start, the State would establish $5 million in grants to support a variety of security measures, and that fund would grow in size and scope in future years.

I was recently interviewed on NPR about the bill and you can read it in its entirety there.
